In the US, every business entity is registered with a state — there is no federal company registry. Each state has a department which publishes its own data in its own format, and GovFiles ingests directly from each one. These are the jurisdiction codes you can use to scope searches or look up a record. To see which jurisdictions are loaded and queryable right now, call the List supported jurisdictions endpoint.
